negative refractive index

i'm sure some of you might still remember Snell's Law from high school optics?
n1 sin(theta1) = n2 sin(theta2)
yes? no? maybe?

then when you have n in negative value oh, the classical bending straw example morph into this...

cool? ^^
my research topic for the imaging course ^^ lisa and i had to snatch it from others XD these materials are discovered in yr 2000. they are not naturally occuring. man made, or better to describe, engineered materials ^^
