30mins until the group discussion starts, and little kenneth says: there will be time when u sit down alone and think about life...
so i'll sit down alone on the lawn, and think about life in the 24 degrees breeze :)
life has become half real half virtual. technology brings ppl closer together? or further apart? we can debate about that for days and draw no conclusion. anyway, the frequency of me beaming silly grins at my little 海燕's screen is getting higher than ideal. to "live" in two different places so far apart at the same time, relying on the portal to the virtual world. to manage stuffs in my own life here, with ppl i know for less than 8 months; and to manage stuffs that's going on back home... the balance can go off easily :P
been in touch with a few old friends from high school. most of them overseas, quite a few earning big money, and having enough of being outside asia, haha... sad isn't it? 围城,those who are inside want to go out, those who are outside want to go in... the grass is always greener at the other side of the hill... but either way there are sacrifices here and there that need to be made. so it doesnt matter at the end of the day :)
god... someone is speaking very swinglish's swinglish... pening...
speak you english? have you a nice weekend? (in swedish accent...)
and ah, time's up :)
btw, small small swallow had got a provisional phD offer!!! will see her at chalmers again next academic year ^^

tibet

everything this place has to do with me, again comes to travelling...
i have always wanted to see tibet. badly.
but ofcoz with all de going-ons, u might hav guessed that this post is not going to be on travelling...

lets talk about it a bit from my perspective, shall we?
first of all, wot is my perspective? well, as i said, i want to backpack tibet... so, that's from an international backpacker's perspective.

the chinese government is not so nice to international backpackers when it comes to tibet... first and foremost, de visa... in malaysia, we can only apply for maximum one month visa to visit china. for backpackers who wants to travel deep, that's paku in the coffin already... a month in china... 2 provinces max?... how many times do you need to go back to finish all the places you would like to go? nevermind... a month might be enough if you only want to travel tibet...

ok, we successfully got our one month visa and got to chengdu or xi'an(de 2 int. airports closest to tibet) happily, hurray~ ok, now we need to submit our application to apply a permit to get into tibet. pls raise ur hand if you din realize we need to go through this step. thank you... that's alright actually, coz you will eventually get your pass, if you have a local guide. and this guy will need to be with you all the time when u are in tibet. well, that's not a big deal, who will know if we just kick our guide away after we get into tibet? the thing is, we need to pay him either way, which is rather annoying... anyway, we can cope with that~
wait just a second, have a closer look at the pass... it says we can only stay in tibet for max 7 days... @.@... ok, i'll only have a week in tibet then...... >.<

there are a few more restrictions that has been enforced but we dont need to go thru them all to realize that, while chinese residence from other provinces can go in and out of tibet without going thru any of these nonsense (in fact, no restriction at all, just like how i travel between selangor and N9 as i like :P), the chinese government is doing wotever they can to cut down unmonitored contact between something within tibet and something outside china... isnt it an obvious enough evident that there is no internal conflict? the problems are foreign.....

and then i read this...
a letter to all parties by a tibetan...
http://www.anti-cnn.com/forum/en/thread-274-1-1.html
and cried T.T
p.s: photos by angel, a malaysian backpacker who spent 70 illegal days in tibet. mouse over the pictures to see the descriptions. will any other way allow you to see these all?
but that is not the moral of today's story :P

life life life
another 4 days elapsed without notice~
i went out without a jacket! 14 degrees! charmed~ well... temperature is back at de freezing point of H2O for now though...
to celebrate de good weather, i decided to fry something... hadn't fried anything in 6 months or so... since it is only possible to ventilate the room when it is not so damn cold outside... and, guess wot? there's a smoke detector just 1m laterally away from the stove... very clever...
yam roll it was, karin popo came all de way down to tell me it was the best chinese delicacy she's ever had ^^ then, somehow, i had to get rid of the oil that was left in the frying pan, so invited aik yean over for dinner again on thursday. turns out that she loves yam! just like LL ^^ we modified KFC's receipe and produced a pirated Dinner Plate, with nothing less than fried chicken, smashed potatoes and colesclaw (how do u spell it?) along with the yam rolls and choc chip ice-cream... setting off the smoke detector 3 or 4 times during the process... mycket fortunately it's not a sprinkler......
we were missing KFC so badly... they are banned in Gothenburg and when we saw it in Copenhagen, we only had less than 15 danish crowns left (around RM10... in denmark, a KFC meal is like RM30 lo...) :P oh yeah, i didn't mention in the earlier posts, after paying for the beds, we spent 3 days in Copenhagen with less than 100 danish crowns (~RM65) as a tourist... legendary... we ended up with less than 2 danish crowns each when we finally crossed the bridge and were back in sweden again...
really, thx to aik yean, the meals have been so much better lately :P our little swimming and free-coffee-at-MC2 sessions every saturday are another change in lifestyle ^^ tho sunny weekends are starting to belong to islands and outdoor excursions already ^^ isn't it nice when fun are free? free pool, free coffee, free transportation, free nature... LOL
the composite lecturer is flying... i guess we might finish de whole course in the next 2 or 3 weeks at this rate... the couse has just started 2 weeks ago and half the book thickness is already gone...
right, tomorrow's game... let it be, let it be...

tack så mycket
for participating Earth Hour :)
tack så mycket = thank you so much :)
de whole enviro course only have 2 lectures! we are joined by students from ecology and product development and automobile and physics and... 37 students, de largest class so far, a hot subject~ and many many many group discussions, it would be kinda like the CES course then. hopefully we wont start discussions at 6pm and end up in pubs this time... and xabi alonso is in my group @.@ how come there are ppl who looks so alike... though fortunate for him, not fernando alonso...
and, snowy zorro in de melting snow ^^
does the snow look whiter this time? :P

fasten your seat belt for a long one
since i'm on vacation, interesting things find their way to my door steps ^^
first to talk about is ofcoz de trip south with aik yean. we were warned against de snow storm that would probably jeopardise copenhagen's public transport and hence our trip. but we went on regardless. it was, as expected, freezing cold. going around on feet, we were surviving by seeking shelter in museums and churches, which are attractions themselves ^^
as u might have guessed, we were renting beds in backpackers, meeting more fascinating ppl. a lady who came from azerbaijan with a sole purpose, to find a man to marry so that she can stay in west europe forever... a tiny teenage japanese girl who travels alone, so polite she bows to the bus driver after getting a ticket ^^ de address in malmo's backpacker's lead us to a deserted house with broken windows and washed away paint -_- so when i happily shouted "yokata~" as we finally found the place, her eyes brightened and kept bowing to me, ha...
fairy tales, no wonder they always come in white. should have remembered that andersen is a dane ^^ and a travelling dane ^^ if you go back and see Tivoli in de pictures in the previous post, it is where andersen's first stories were played ^^ growing up with these stories nourishing my imaginations, it's wonderful to visit their place of birth and see the original hand written manuscripts ^^
no easter egg this yr but karin popo came with a piece of welcome home cake, home made ofcoz ^^ i'm really finding it hard to take so much kindness from an 85-yr-old :P
with this trip over, i hav to start planning for the next (tho i din really plan this one...), the big one... vow to watch spain vs. russia in spain, so the other places just hav to accomodate ^^ the travelmate i mentioned earlier pulled out... so i guess this is going to be a solo trip, unless aik yean finishes her master debate before the trip, which is highly unlikely. ooy, mom, it's not my intention... anyway, sahara becomes feasible now :D morroc and it's hashish~~ XD (which gave assassin it's name, hashshashin/hashishin XD) poisoned~ poisoned~ XD
but before getting carried away, lets talk a bit about study, which i suddenly remember is de main purpose of why am i here :P Tailored Materials last quarter was a very interesting elective, despite that Giant Magnetoresistance report ^^ Polymers was our last compulsory subject, which means the coming ones are all going to be my choice ^^ for the next quarter, Environmental Adaptable Product Development and Manufacturing is no doubt my first choice.....
OMG!! heart got beat~ heart got beat~~ while searching for the full name of that enviro course, i saw my published results... not as spectacular as last quarter, but... 48.5/55 for polymers T.T (88% means no lamb stew for you ppl, wakaka) tailored materials 42.25/45 (94%) of exams, no results for that GMR report yet, but it's already a grade 5 T.T either there's really miracles in the world or i'm a genius, agree biao meimei? wakaka~
ok back to where we were interupted. one of a million reasons WHY SWEDEN is because of their role in solving enviro problems the technical way, the engineers' way, my way ^^ so this course is unpassable. hope to take another one or two enviro courses in this year's autumn term after returning from malaysia. i've considered long and hard for the other course, and after exchanging a few emails with eddie de la favco, we decided that composite and nanocomposite materials would be the best :) although it means i'll see rodney de head spinning polymers lecturer again >.<
another joy~ kimster' 2nd malaysia crown!! ^^ with kubi and heikki at his either sides on the podium, charmed~~ ^^ and MU's big win against liverpool, consolidating our spot at the top, with christiano scoring again T.T and david villa~~~ that's probably the only way to beat buffon at his best ^^ no regrets to see him inherit raul's #7~ nice to see cesc, xavi and iniesta doing crazy things in de middle and senna anchoring for them too ^^ hope the good form will continue to euro08~ havnt seen elnino pair up with villa in a while... and with options of joaquin and vicente operating on the wings, wot a squad...
haha, f1 and football could be alien language for some of you... but here is something for everyone - at last but not least, lets re-visit the snow storm that hits north eastern europe in the past week. gothenburg clad in white. took tons of pictures ^^ but this post is already very very very very long even without them flooding the page ^^
my favourite woods
chalmers
grave yard at redbergsplatsen
prison
a short video taken when it was snowing outside my window, u've seen how the scene change through out 3 seasons outside this window now ^^ the pic below is the end product after a week of snow, u can see de garden bench is almost burried... the snow was so thick karin popo couldnt open the main door that morning ^^

"to travel is to live" says andersen
another very different trip...
did hans christian andersen's (安徒生) write "the little match girl" after such a snow storm?
the sculpture of the little mermaid was naturally the highlight.
so was andersen's museum.
so was the canals that flow through another ancient and yet modern european city,
in de name of copenhagen.
